Consume Less Create More Desktop Wallpaper

This is a phrase that stuck in my head today. I decided, hey, I should make a quick desktop wallpaper. Callin (co-worker) is always telling me I need different wallpapers at work. He hates my wallpapers.

I’m a big fan of minimal desktop backgrounds, flat color, nice type, relaxing and not complex. These fit the bill. I figured maybe someone else out there might want a minimal background and might also like the phrase.

Well, I decided to post another version I made up a while ago.

Made some minor tweaks and figured enough was enough. This one is far more textural and retro-ish in it’s overall theme. I also added a tasteful “release love for sale” graphic.

Anyway, figured I’d share it once again, for any of you other die-hard Bilal fans out there who’d like artwork but don’t have the means to produce some.
I’d really love a shot at designing a cover with actual high resolution studio images, instead of scraping the internet.

Note: This prints best on standard card stock. It gives it a nice vintage faded look, which I was going for.

I threw this together one day at work in the remaining 10 minutes of lunch time I had left.
Colorful and full of texture with simple typography and an MJ silhouette.

This is the only size I made = 1680px wide x 1050px high.
If you dig the wallpaper and need another size, let me know and I’ll upload one.

Bilal — Love For Sale Album Artwork

Since I’m kind of a completist at heart when it comes to music I’m passionate about, I couldn’t handle having Love For Sale in my album collection without artwork. So I decided to design simple, clean artwork to print out and put inside a jewel case. Oh and also because my greatest joy design-wise is designing album art for musicians, however miniscule the final concept may be.

I was limited on imagery to use, since there isn’t a whole lot about Bilal on the internet, period. I chose to utilize the best I could find, however inappropriate for a studio album it may be. I was almost going to approach this in a very psychedelic manner, but chose to just keep it simple and I didn’t want to spend too long on it.

Anyway, figured I’d share it, for any of you other die-hard Bilal fans out there who’d like artwork but don’t have the means to produce some.
I’ve been colorful lately in design work, don’t know what that’s about…guess it’s a phase.

Otherwise, I encourage you to design your own and share. I know I’d like to see it.
