The next stop on this India trip was Chennai. We definitely chose an interesting day to fly into Chennai.

Upon landing, what would’ve taken 30-45 minutes time to get from the airport to our hotel took 6 hours. The day we landed happened to be the climax of a week long peaceful protest in Tamil Nadu over a ban on bull fighting. Protesters took to the streets, blocking the freeways and major arteries that connects the cities.

Thankfully, we were with friends during this six hour delay and not with a complete stranger. After about 3 hours in the car we stopped to eat and watch the traffic jam progression from the window of the restaurant. After about an hour or so, traffic started moving so we resumed our journey.

We made it to our hotel and started exploring. Here are some highlights from our 5 days in Chennai.
